Duplicating a Bin Location

If you need to create a new bin location that has similar characteristics to another bin location, you can copy the details of the existing bin location to make the new one. You would then change some fields to make the new bin location unique. This saves you time and reduces errors in creating the new bin location.

  1. Log in to .wms webUI.

  2. Click Settings on the top navigation bar then select Bin Locations from the drop-down menu.

    The Settings - Bin Locations page displays.

  3. Select your Warehouse from the drop-down list that includes the bin location you wish to copy.

  4. Click Select Warehouse.

    The bin locations at the selected warehouse are displayed.

  5. Find and select the bin location you wish to use as the base for a new bin location.

  6. In the Actions column for the selected bin location, click Clone.

    The Clone Bin Location dialog box displays.

  7. Complete the details for the new bin location.

    Most of the fields are automatically filled in with the details from the existing bin location. Only a few fields need to be completed in order to make the new bin location unique. The other fields can also be changed, as needed.

    Description

    Bin Code

    Enter a unique code or name for the bin location.

    This code is visible to staff when picking products.

    Pick Path Sequence

    Enter the order in which staff are to pick orders.

    Count Path Sequence

    Enter the order in which staff are to cycle count.

    Putaway Path Sequence

    Enter the order in which staff are to put orders away.

    Bin Barcode

    Enter the barcode applied to this new bin location.

    Distance

    This field must be completed when using the auto-bin process.

    Enter the distance from the main packing area to the bin location. Item locations are based on volume.

  8. Click Save.
