Managing Item Master Data
It is important that all stock items in your warehouse be set up as master data records. All data for warehouse management and inventory transactions are contained in the item master records. How items are defined and how they are handled in your warehouse is through item master data records.
An item master data record must be created for each product and identified with a unique code. The record stores essential information such as if the item is purchased or sold, the price of the item, the inventory level and how purchasing of the item is forecast and planned.
Item master data can be managed by your ERP system or using .wms. If your ERP system is the source of truth for all your stock, certain parameters will be configured within .wms to synchronise the data between your ERP system and .wms.
Note: If your ERP system manages your stock, all item master data should be entered into your ERP system and not in .wms.
