Setting Up Countbacks

Countback functionality allows operators to complete a quick cycle count of an item while it is being picked. This allows a site to constantly have stock on hand values updated without conducting a full stocktake.

Countbacks display while operators are picking an order.

If you wish to separate stocktake and picking as 2 separate functions, then cycle counts should be used.

A unique countback system parameter must be enabled to use this functionality. A Countback Frequency is set in hours between counts for each item's master record. If any stock adjustments need to be made as a result of a countback, they will need to be reviewed and approved.

Example

If you set 1 as the countback frequency, then a countback is triggered every hour. If 24 is set as the countback frequency then the countback is triggered every day. Once the specified time frame has passed, an operator picking orders is prompted to do a countback the next time the item is scanned for picking and shipment.

ENG 7215 By default, specific system parameters are set for the countback value to enter a pending state where it must be approved before it is passed through the system to adjust the stock amount. While the countback value is in a pending state, another recount of the stock can be requested before approval is given.

Alternatively, the countback system parameters can be disabled so that countbacks do not go into a pending state to be approved. The countback value is then automatically passed through the system and the stock amount is adjusted accordingly.

ENG 9383 You can define which items are relevant to be counted and those that do not need to be counted. This is done by applying an attribute, RequiresCountBack, to an item. If the value is yes, follow the countback rules. If the value is no, do not follow the countback rules.
