Setting up Your RF Scanner

In order for your RF scanners to work with .wms Desktop, they must be set up with a prefix to use F10 and a postfix of Enter.

We have provided the following configuration instructions if you are using Zebra / Symbol Scanner. For other types of scanner, refer to the manufacturer's documentation.

  1. Download and install the Zebra CoreScanner Driver on to your computer.

    This is a prerequisite for 123Scan. If you do not install it at this stage, it can be installed during the 123Scan install.

  2. Download and install 123Scan on to your computer.

    Follow the prompts during the installation.

  3. Connect your Zebra / Symbol scanner to your computer using a USB cable.

  4. Open 123Scan.

  5. Make sure you are on the Start tab.

  6. Click Create new configuration file.

  7. Select where your scanner is connected or not.

  8. Select your scanner type and model from the displayed options.

  9. Select the appropriate plug-in.

    The latest version is ok.

  10. Enter a name for this configuration.

  11. Optionally, click the Cable Connection or Symbologies tab for further setup options.

  12. On the left hand side, click Modify Data.

  13. Select Program complex data modifications or select a rule from your data formatting library.

  14. Click Basic.

  15. Click View/Edit.

  16. Click <Prefix> <Data. <SUFFIX 1>.

  17. Click Code List next to Prefix.

  18. Click Functions.

  19. Click F10.

  20. Click Insert.

    The prefix should now display as F 10 <5010>.

  21. Make sure that SUFFIX 1 is Enter <7013>.

  22. Click Printing Options and change the appropriate options to suit your needs.

  23. Click Load and Print.

    The easiest is probably Print bar code, then scanning the barcodes. The second easiest is to Load to scanner, if the scanner is connected to the computer.
